How Do We Find Ourselves, When We Feel Emotionally Depleted?

IT IS OFTEN SAID THAT AS FIRST RESPONDERS, WE OFFER SOMETHING UNIQUE TO THOSE IN TROUBLE, OURSELVES!

  • However how can we offer ourselves ,when we cannot build up our own tank, our own reservoir, ?

  • Our supply has become depleted with what is necessary to keep us going?

  • Sleep, food, love of our family, and friends. peace and quiet, spiritual support and sustenance.

  • During todays pandemic and intense work environment, we need not to lose sight of our own needs.

  • Is it humanly possible to go without sleep, meals, and time for self?

  • Can we continue on a shift by shift basis without stopping?

  • Are we behaving like robots, ignoring this type of selfless behavior?

  • Forgetting how our actions effects our families, our children, and our patients?

  • Without awareness, we tend to lose ourselves each day by being absorbed into the crisis.

  • Realizing we too are becoming victim to the pandemic, to compassion fatigue a form of acute stress syndrome.

  • If we find ourselves exhausted with little time to re-group what can we do?

  • Recognize something is wrong. WE MATTER TOO!

  • KNOW YOUR ANSWER WILL COME FROM WITHIN!

  • Develop a Self Care Plan

  • Start saying No, to other’s requests

  • Start saying Yes, to your self

  • Recognize that your needs are as important as anyone else’s needs

  • Remember by taking care of yourself, this leads you back to being available to help others too.

  • Love and appreciate yourself and all of who your are.
